Five people have been arrested in connection to the kidnapping and robbery of a taxi driver on Saipan.

Jay Billy, 20, JR Tipingeni, 19, and three 15-year-olds have been charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and battery, robbery and disturbing the peace.

On Dec. 10, the group allegedly attacked their taxi driver after being dropped off to the beach area of Coral Ocean Point Resort in Koblerville.

Police say they repeatedly punched the victim in the head and face, while one suspect used the seat belt to choke the victim. The suspects fled with the victim’s cell phones and cash.

The victim was treated for injuries at the Commonwealth Health Care Corporation.

On Friday, police were alerted to a video circulating on social media that was apparently captured by the suspects during the alleged robbery.

Each are being held on a $50,000 bail in the Department of Corrections on Saipan
