High Surf Advisory, Small Craft Advisory, Rip Current Statement in effect
The National Weather Service, Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a High Surf Advisory, Small Craft Advisory, and Rip Current Statement in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Waves of seven to ten feet along north facing reefs. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions with localized beach erosion.
High risk of rip currents along north and east facing shores.
East winds 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt and seas seven to ten feet which will be hazardous to small craft.
The offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense remind residents inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water along north and east facing shores due to the dangerous surf and rip current conditions
If caught in a rip current, relax and float, don’t swim against the current.
If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline, if unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid boating in hazardous conditions.
