Also passed,  Resolution 472, calling for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to open a regional office on Guam.

Earlier this year, resolution author, Telo Taitague, presented a similar measure at the 2024 Association of Pacific Island Legislatures Conference, where it received unanimous support from Micronesian lawmakers.

Taitague said,“With this resolution, we are sending a clear message: We stand with our veterans. Their sacrifices demand nothing less than our full support. Establishing a VA office on Guam is not just about convenience — it’s about justice.”

Currently, veterans and their families face the staggering financial burdens of having to travel across the Pacific to access essential VA resources in Hawaii.

Taitague urges the Department of Veterans Affairs to act quickly in establishing the regional office.
