Man charged in ‘organized retail theft crime’
A man recently arrested on drug possession charges has been connected to a theft reported at a hardware store earlier this year.
Thirty-nine-year-old Fernando Quitugua Babauta is charged with retail theft.
Court documents state Babauta was linked to a theft at the Home Depot back in January.
He along with another unnamed suspect was spotted allegedly leaving the store without paying for items they loaded into a couple of shopping carts.
A worker told police he believed the suspects were part of an “organized retail theft crime.”
The theft was caught on the store’s video surveillance, which is how authorities were able to link Babauta to the alleged incident.
