A man who police say tried to rob a home in Dededo before being shot and killed by the homeowner has been identified as Alomar Idip Sato Rdialul, 31.

Rdialul died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

His death was ruled a homicide.

The incident happened on Dec. 9.

Guam police responded to a reported shooting at a home along Alageta Street.

Detectives from the Guam Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Section said the suspect looked familiar.

Investigators contacted family members who confirmed the suspect was last seen on Dec. 8.

Authorities also ran Rdialul’s fingerprint through the Forensic Science Bureau to confirm his identity.

The homicide investigation is ongoing.
