Another one of our island's best gets a shot at big-time college sports and a chance to live her dreams. Academy of Our Lady of Guam rugby standout Auriana Merfalen is taking her game to the East Coast, and will play for Division I Sacred Heart University in Connecticut.

Flanked by the squad that got here there – family, godparents, coaches, teammates and classmates, she accepted her scholarship, formalizing her role as a Pioneer.

The Talofofo resident, two-time all-island selection and Cougars MVP is excited at the opportunity, having chosen Sacred Heart not just for sports, but because of her desire to become a dentist.

The journey continues for this exceptional member of our sports community, so good luck, Auri! You'll carry our island strength and pride with you every step next fall on the pitch and in class. We'll be cheering for you!
