The Micronesia Climate Change Alliance is thrilled to announce the recipients of its community grants for Food Sovereignty and Energy Democracy in the CNMI.

This year’s Food Sovereignty recipients include the Marianas Producers Association, Talaya Club, Kagman Agricultural Farmers & Producers Association, and the NMC Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences Club.

These organizations have been recognized for their efforts to strengthen local food systems and promote community resilience.

For Energy Democracy, Kånnai Komunidåt was awarded a grant for their dedication to creating ethical and transparent energy systems in the CNMI.

Grantees convened with MCCA board members and staff on Monday, Dec. 2, at the Tanapag Youth Center for a community grants meeting.

The event included Just Transition training, a framework for building sustainable and equitable solutions to address climate change.

Grantees also developed project plans to guide their initiatives over the next four to 12 months.

The Food Sovereignty Community Grants are made possible through support from the Transformative Farm Bill Windward Fund, a national initiative to enhance and sustain food systems.
