A man is arrested in a connection to a violent machete attack reported in Dededo Saturday afternoon.

Mickay Katsuta is arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, public drunkenness and loitering.

Officers with the Guam Police Department responded to reports of a man threatening customers with a machete at New Palms Market on Wusstig Road around 4:22 pm.

Police arrived to find Katsuta drunk and holding a machete before taking him into custody.

Investigators said the customer alleged that Katsuta swung the machete towards his head and missed.

The incident was captured on the store’s video surveillance.

 

 

“There have been rumors circulating on social media regarding this incident through a video that depicts the sequence of events. The rumors have not surfaced as factual,” said GPD spokesperson officer Berlyn Savella. “The matter is being looked into. The Guam Police Department confirms that the video circulating is related to an isolated incident.”
