Today, Governor-elect Pulaalii Nikolao Pula of American Samoa and Governor Arnold Palacios of the Northern Mariana Islands announced their decision to join the Republican Party.

RNC Chairman Michael Whatley celebrated the announcement, stating.

“Following President Trump’s landslide victory, enthusiasm for the Republican Party is at historic highs. I’m proud to welcome Governors Pula and Palacios as further proof that our agenda represents victory for all Americans—from the islands to the mainland.”

RGA Chairman and Governor Brian Kemp echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the impact of Republican leadership.

“Our movement is about economic results, safe communities, and opportunity for all. I’m thrilled to welcome these leaders to the GOP,” said Kemp.

Governor-elect Pulaalii Nikolao Pula highlighted the shared values between Samoans and Republicans, saying, “Respect for God, Country, and Family are Samoan values. The GOP’s commitment to reforming the federal government and growing the economy will benefit American Samoa as we build a stronger future.”

Governor Arnold Palacios reaffirmed his dedication to the people of the Northern Mariana Islands, adding, “The Republican Party’s message of freedom, opportunity, and strength aligns with our vision to improve the economy and create better opportunities for every family. I look forward to working with fellow Republicans on our shared goals.”

Congresswoman Amata Coleman Radewagen, American Samoa’s RNC representative, underscored the importance of their decision.

“Having these two strong leaders join the Republican Party will strengthen the Trump Administration’s attention to the needs of our islands. I’ve known both for decades, and this is a proud moment,” said Radewagen.
