Salvation Army brings Christmas cheer to Talofofo Elementary School
Fifth graders in Mrs.Cecilia Guzman and Mr. Gavin Diego’s class broke out in song as a thank you to the Salvation Army for bringing gifts for the 215 students at Talofofo Elementary School.
On Friday, with toys in tow, Maj. Eric Tumale, Guam Corps Officer, his wife Jasiel, staff, along with visiting Divisional Commander and Divisional Director of Women's Ministries, Majs. Troy and Annie Trimmer of the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division made their way from their office in Tiyan to the Home of the Tigers to deliver toys.
Tumale said considering the distance from where parents could apply for Christmas assistance at their Tiyan office, they selected Talafofo and Machanaonao Elementary School to receive their “Toy N Joy” Christmas toys assistance.
Adding all they want is to bring Christmas cheer to kids.
Fourth grade teacher Stephane Concepcion said it was a heartfelt feeling to see the kids genuinely surprised.
“My kids were excited. They're so blessed to have been thought about during this Christmas season. They weren’t really expecting any gifts but they were so appreciative of what they got from the Salvation Army,” said Concepcion.
Standing anxiously in line, one by one, each boy and girl was presented a gift, their faces lit up with joy and delight.
“We would just like to say thank you to everyone for all the donations that they have done for the community and the school. thank you to salvation army once again for supporting our students especially at this time of the year...when most people might not have anything to give, so appreciative for all they have given,” said Concepcion.
