For three years, Bella Wings has brought gadgets to light up the night sky at celebrations for New Years, Liberation, and more.

It's become a crowd favorite and a great pairing with the fireworks display but this New Year’s Eve, the drone light show will not go on.

The first ever drone light show BWA put on for Guam was during the Liberation celebration in 2021.

The drones launched from Ypao Beach Park, with 100 of them changing colors and moving about to form shapes and messages.

This was the show added to the fireworks display showcased over the past three years.

So, you can imagine just how surprised Bella Wings CEO Charlie Hermosa was when he found out the Guam Visitors Bureau did not renew the contract.

Meaning the drones will not take off this New Years.

“So unfortunately, GVB decided not to renew the contract for the drone light show so this year for the end of 2024 going into 2025 we will not be doing any drone light show this year and for the future. I don't know if we will renew the contract or we go back to the table, but as it stands out the contract with GVB has ceased,” said Hermosa.

Hermosa didn't get much of an explanation as to why the contract was not renewed.

He has been getting multiple calls asking where the show will be on the night of Dec. 31 and now we know!

This comes as GVB has been hammering away at trying to boost tourism and implement a recovery plan for the island.

For now, Hermosa said his company will still be around to support in any way possible but again, no drone light show to usher in 2025.

Now, GVB does have two fireworks shows planned that night, one in Tumon and a second in Hagatna.

So that will still be a spectacle to see and to help celebrate the New Year.
