A generous donation from a local resort is helping to support tourism education on Guam.

The Tsubaki Tower announced today that its Casa Oceano fundraiser raised $8k in November to support the tourism education council’s WAVE Club.

The club promotes the significance of tourism to students from third through 12th grades in both public and private schools.

Ken Yanagisawa, President and CEO of P.H.R. Ken Micronesia and General Manager of the Tsubaki Tower, shared that the funds were raised through proceeds from Casa Oceano dinners.

He stated that educating students about the impact of tourism on the island’s economy is essential to building a stronger community.

Heidi Ballendorf, Executive Director of the Tourism Education council, thanked the Tsubaki Tower, adding the funds will benefit more than 400 students and 25 teachers who work to promote Guam's unique culture, people, and environment.
