Tamuning man arrested in family violence, strangulation
It was a bloody scene for Guam police when they arrived at a Tamuning apartment for an assault complaint.
Thirty-year-old Preston Tunggadewa is charged with family violence as a third degree felony with a special allegation of use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony. He is additionally charged with aggravated assault, felonious restraint, and strangulation as third-degree felonies and assault as a misdemeanor.
Court documents state Guam police met a mother who reported her daughter had allegedly been assaulted at Dungca Apartments in Tamuning.
The apartment was noted to be in disarray, with suspected blood on the walls and floor.
After meeting with the victim, she stated her boyfriend, Tunggadewa, had been drinking at Club Icon when he got upset.
On the way to the apartment, the victim alleged Tunggadewa hit her several times, kicked her, and pulled on her hair.
She added the assault continued for about five to 10 minutes inside the apartment.
The victim also states it got to a point where she handed him a knife and said, “Just kill me and put me out of my misery.”
The victim was finally able to escape to her mother’s apartment after Tunggadewa went to the bathroom and bedroom.
