Attorney Andrew Perez appointed new public guardian
The Judiciary of Guam announced a new public guardian, following the retirement of Attorney Marcelene Cruz Santos, who served in the role for 15 years.
Chief Justice Robert J. Torres has appointed Attorney Andrew Perez as the new public guardian, effective Dec. 30, 2024.
Attorney Perez takes over the role after Santos was honored last week for her significant contributions in strengthening community trust and protections for those dependent on guardianship.
The Office of the Public Guardian, established in 2001, provides legal guardianship for elderly and disabled adults without family support, while promoting self-reliance and community outreach.
With over a decade of legal experience, Perez brings a diverse background, including work with the Child Support Enforcement Division, Guam Department of Education, and as a speech therapist.
Chief Justice Torres praised Perez’s commitment to justice and his qualifications, expressing confidence that he will serve the community's most vulnerable with dedication and excellence.
