University of Guam Extension hosts Banana Field Day
The University of Guam is hosting a special event to help you boost your banana harvest.
Backyard gardeners and large-scale farmers are invited to UOG’s Banana Field Day on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Inarajan Research & Education Center.
This two-hour event will feature a walking tour of UOG’s banana plantation, showcasing five varieties planted for a trial, including Fiji, Blue Java, and Saba.
Researchers will share the two varieties best suited for Guam and sustainable growing practices.
Participants will also learn about proper harvesting, nematode prevention, and how to turn bananas into value-added products, with insights from UOG experts, including Dr. Jian Yang and Dr. Richard Singh.
Space is limited to the first 30 registrants, and there is a $10 fee to attend.
To sign up, contact Glenda Hall at 735-2080 or email [email protected].
