The Northern and Southern Soil and Water Conservation Districts have announced the winners of the 2024 Island-Wide Conservation Poster Contest, honoring young artists who showcased their commitment to forest preservation.

The awards ceremony took place on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, at Machananao Elementary School, where students competed under the theme “May the Forest Be With You.”

And the winners are:

  • First Place: Christine Jane Caballero
  • Second Place: Leeon Evangelista
  • Third Place: Divinson George

Christine Jane Caballero, a 4th grader from Ms. Kristin Sandoval’s class at Machananao Elementary, took the top honor. Her vibrant and inspiring poster earned her the opportunity to represent Guam in the National Association of Conservation Districts Poster Contest, a first for Guam.

Christine’s artwork will compete against entries from across the nation, with winners to be announced during the 2025 NACD Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah.
