CNMI Governor Palacios signs five bills into law

It's inauguration day for the House and Senate in the CNMI but ahead of the ceremonies, Governor Arnold Palacios signed a handful of bills into law. 

This includes Public Law 24 to impose an additional one-percent tax on the yearly gross revenue of construction activities in excess of three hundred fifty thousand dollars, Public Law 31 to impose a three-percent surtax on gross revenues derived from non-residential construction projects that cost three hundred fifty thousand dollars or more, and Public Law 32 to regulate Afok or Bweesch under the Pure Food and Drug Control Act; and for other purposes. 

Also signed is Public Law 33 to allow the health care professions licensing board to promulgate regulations for the licensing physicians licensed to practice in a foreign country; and for other purposes and Public Law 34 to amend the provisions pertaining to village and agricultural homesteads in Rota, Tinian, and Saipan and to specifically prohibit the Department of Public Lands from revoking a village or agricultural homestead permit after it is approved and issued because the applicant met all the requirements.
