Safety has become a concern for staff conducting compliance inspections with the Chamorro Land Trust Commission.

During this week's CLTC meeting, the commission learned of a scare that prompted officials to call police.

“Unfortunately, last week when our staff was conducting compliance inspections, about a lot or two down from the subject lot, they heard - we don't know if it was towards them or because they were there - but 30 gunshots. so immediately they called GPD and GPD  responded and cleared the area. We anticipate more of that type of activity happening but nonetheless this time going forward, we are reaching out to the mayors to let them know we will be in their municipality conducting compliance inspections,” said a CLTC staff member during a meeting.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Officials did not specify exactly what lot they were inspecting at the time.

As a safety precaution, the staff was told to call police immediately if they encounter that situation again.
