Department of Agriculture Animal Health Division, GAIN call for volunteers for survey efforts
The Department of Agriculture’s Animal Health Division, in partnership with Guam Animals In Need, has announced a comprehensive dog and cat population survey.
The initiative will run from Feb. 13 to Feb. 21 and will be led by a visiting team from Humane Society International.
This survey aims to collect critical data to address Guam's stray animal population and improve animal welfare.
Volunteers are needed to help with tasks such as conducting household questionnaires and counting free-roaming animals to identify stray population trends.
Interested volunteers must be at least 18 years old, attend mandatory training sessions on Feb. 11th and 12th, and sign up online.
“This survey is a critical step in understanding the dynamics of Guam’s dog and cat populations," said Chelsa Muna, Director of the Guam Department of Agriculture, she adds "With the help of our dedicated volunteers and partners, we can gather the data needed to implement targeted programs that improve animal welfare, protect public health, and enhance the quality of life for both animals and residents across the island.”
