Final EBT distribution event at Micronesia Mall as benefits expire in April 2025
The Department of Public Health & Social Services is urging the public to act promptly in claiming their 2024 Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (S-EBT) funds.
Eligible Groups: GDOE, Non-GDOE (SNAP/TANF), & DoDEA students
Date: Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025
Time: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Location: Micronesia Mall (Across Island E-Pro)
There are currently 4,351 individuals who qualify and have not collected their cards, or are unaware that they have funds to use with their existing cards. The benefits, $177 per eligible child, expire on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
“We are making every effort to ensure families receive the assistance they are entitled to, but time is running out. If you haven’t collected your card, we encourage you to contact the Bureau of Economic Security as soon as possible. Our staff will also be at the Micronesia Mall for one more day, one more opportunity for these children to get their federal benefits,” said Theresa C. Arriola, DPHSS Director.
S-EBT benefits are available to:
- Children enrolled in a school participating in the National School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program between July 1, 2023, and Aug. 21, 2024.
- School-age children (5 to 18 years old) not enrolled in an NSLP/SBP school, but participating in Supplemental Nutrition Program and/or in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, between July 1, 2023 – Aug. 21, 2024
Benefits for eligible children with existing cards were loaded on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, and can be used immediately.
Families without an active card must pick them up at the Department of Public Health and Social Services office in Tamuning. Open Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
What to Bring:
Parents or legal guardians must have a valid photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, Guam ID, military ID, or passport). Electronic or digital copies are acceptable.
Additional Notes:
- Benefits expire in 88 days. The expiration date is Saturday, April 19th, 2025.
- Beneficiaries should hold on to their cards after April 19, 2025, because these might be used to receive benefits that are made available in the future.
- Each eligible student will receive a one-time benefit amount of $177.
- A child may not receive Summer EBT (S-EBT) benefits from more than one State or more than $177 benefit from Guam.
- Parent or legal guardian is responsible for notifying Guam DPHSS if the household receives a duplicate benefit and if so, you are instructed to destroy the card. In addition, DPHSS will also cancel the benefit.
- Written Authorizations are not allowed. If you are a parent/guardian/student and are off island, a Zoom meeting will be scheduled. Power of Attorney (POA) and any court document will be verified with GDOE records to release the card to whomever is designated to pick up the card(s).
- NO CARD WILL BE ISSUED to parents/guardians of children under the legal custody or auspices of Child Protective Services (CPS). SNAP will directly coordinate with CPS.
- If the children are no longer living with the household, the parents/guardians need to surrender the cards. If it is determined they have the card, used it when knowingly they do not have custody of the children or live with them, the parents/guardians will be referred for investigation. You are affirming when you receive the S-EBT benefit that there are no circumstances whereby your household can use two separate benefits issued to the same child. Should if any instances of dual participation come to the Guam DPHSS attention, you will be investigated swiftly and thoroughly based on cost effective measures in accordance with Summer EBT claims against the household.
Benefits offered are through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as Food Stamps.
This supplemental benefit is federally funded and offered through the Food and Nutrition Services of the United States Department of Agriculture and is administered locally by the DPHSS in partnership with the GDOE.
