Guam's increasingly unfordable housing market has led to senators looking to prohibit discrimination in housing based on source of income.

Senator Sabina Perez is the author of Bill 29.

She hopes this will promote equitable access to housing.

The bill notes, many states and counties have adopted SOI (source of income) discrimination laws to protect individuals receiving housing assistance.

The measure cites numerous studies that found this policy would ensure housing for low-income families, reduce racial and economic residential segregation, and mitigate negative impacts of gentrification.
