Guam's nurses at the Behavioral Health and Wellness Center will finally see an 18% salary increase, thanks to newly secured funds.

The pay raise, approved in April 2024, had been delayed due to a lack of funding in the center's original budget.

A recent amendment to the Fiscal Year 2025 budget now allocates $198,000 in excess revenues to cover these pay adjustments. The government has so far collected over $21 million more than projected this fiscal year, providing the means to make these critical payments.

Lawmakers stress that fair compensation for nurses is essential to supporting Guam's healthcare workforce and ensuring quality care. This funding marks an important step in recognizing the work of nurses on the frontlines of mental health and wellness.
