Funding secured to maintain critical services for persons with disabilities
Guam’s Department of Integrated Services for Individuals with Disabilities, or DISID, will receive $375,000 in funding to continue and enhance services for persons with disabilities.
This funding, secured through a budget amendment by Senator Therese Terlaje, comes from excess revenues revealed in the December Consolidated Revenue and Expenditure report.
DISID had previously urged lawmakers to increase funding for essential programs like group homes and in-home services but was left out of the original budget. Senator Terlaje's action ensures these critical services can meet the needs of Guam's most vulnerable populations.
The senator highlighted the importance of supporting agencies that provide life-enhancing services for individuals with disabilities, stressing the need to prioritize quality of life for all Guam residents.
