Okkodo High School claims victory in Mock Trial Championship
The Guam Department of Education congratulates Okkodo High School’s mock trial team, who claimed victory in the 2025 Guam High Mock Trial Championship.
Okkodo High School secured the championship in a thrilling final match against Guam High School, held at the Supreme Court of Guam. The Bulldogs’ prosecution team prevailed in a fictitious case centered on an opioid overdose, winning by a 2-1 decision.
The match showcased legal talent, with special recognition for team members Joseph Ordonez and Renante Denora as star attorneys, and Colleen Concepcion as outstanding witness.
Okkodo High School will now represent Guam at the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Phoenix, Arizona in May.
Fundraising efforts are underway to support the team’s trip to the national stage, where they hope to bring even more pride to the island.
Notable contributors to Okkodo High School’s championship performance included attorney Myka Imbat; witnesses Jordan Calimlim; Shiandel Agustine as bailiff; and Micaela Bederio as clerk.
Additional team members who played pivotal roles throughout the season were Vaegha Bass, Penelope Sablan, Abigail Alvarez, Ralph Magno, Miles Manalo, Kaya Gutierrez, Mitch Vergara, Valeria Erwin, and Janiyah Borja.
Guiding the team to victory were dedicated teacher coaches Shai Mendiola, Xiarra Limtautco, and Krishelle Mortes, as well as attorney coach Jessica Lee.
Okkodo High School previously represented Guam at the National High School Mock Trial Championships in Reno, Nevada (2018) and Athens, Georgia (2019).
In 2020, their plans were disrupted by the cancellation of the national competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
