Senator Telo Taitague said it’s time to prioritize fixing Guam's roads, introducing a bill that would allocate $10 million toward village road repairs.

Taitague has introduced Bill 39-38, calling for $10 million in excess revenues from the 2025 Fiscal Year budget to be directed to the Department of Public Works for village road repairs.

Co-sponsors include Senators Sabina Perez, Chris Barnett, and Therese Terlaje.

Taitague points to Guam's dangerous road conditions, from potholes to uneven surfaces, as a public safety issue that can no longer be ignored.

She highlighted the village streets master plan from 2009, which identified $746 million worth of projects that remain largely unaddressed.

Taitague said the $10 million would be just the beginning, calling for continuous appropriations to make up for years of neglect. She urged her colleagues to prioritize public safety and infrastructure over non-essential spending.

The bill seeks to fund projects identified in the master plan to ensure Guam's roads are safe and reliable for families across the island.
