An internal affairs investigation is currently underway at the Department of Corrections after the recent death of male federal detainee at the Hagatna Detention Facility.

According to DOC Director Fred Bordallo, Jr., at around 3:30pm Tuesday, a medic was requested by security personnel for a federal detainee who was found unresponsive in his cell. He was transported to the Naval Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Guam Police Department has been contacted for the purpose of a death investigation including the U.S. Marshals service for follow-up with the coordination to notify the next of kin
