Family confirms woman hit by car in Harmon dies
A mother of nine who was fighting for her life in the hospital for more than two weeks has died.
The family of Antoinette Arriola confirmed she passed away Wednesday morning.
They are now asking the community for assistance with covering funeral expenses.
Loved ones of the 45-year-old say she suffered serious injuries to her head and leg following the crash.
It happened on Jan. 13 along Route 16 in Harmon.
Antoinette was crossing a busy roadway at the time.
The driver involved turned back to the scene and waited to speak with Guam police officers.
Antoinette's mother, Maria Arriola, had a message for the driver.
Her daughter, Lanielynn also remembers her mom.
“The person that hit my daughter, at least come forward to me in the hospital and we can share sympathy to my daughter…For me, I forgive but will never forget but at least the person that did that at least come to the hospital to check if she is ok. But, it’s so sad. She was a very good daughter. She doesn't hurt anybody's feelings even if they hurt her. She really appreciates everything that was done for her,” said Arriola. “My daughter is very passionate. She doesn't know how to get mad. She is very helpful and in fact she is the kind of woman who will not show you a bad face. She is always happy no matter the consequence or problem.”
“She is the kind of person that is very soft hearted,” added Arriola.
“My mom was the best mom I could have. She was always there for me whenever I had my good days or bad days. She was my best friend. I could tell her anything. She would never get mad at me or judge me. Whenever someone said something bad about me, she always had my back. She is just someone who could make everybody laugh. She was a very funny woman and a good mom,” said Lanielynn.
Antoinette's death marks the third traffic-related fatality on Guam, so far, this year.
