Schools invited to apply for 2025 Lt. Governors’ STEM Education Scholarship program
Guam schools have the opportunity to receive up to $1,000 in STEM scholarship funds through the National Lieutenant Governors Association.
The application period for the 2025 Lt. Governors’ STEM education scholarship program is now open, with the deadline set for March 7.
NLGA will award twelve schools across states and territories to support STEM-related activities, from classroom programming to equipment purchases.
“STEM education is not just a pathway to personal achievement, but the foundation for our island’s future resilience and prosperity,” said Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio. “By investing in scholarships and opportunities for our students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, we are equipping them with the tools to lead in solving the world’s most complex challenges—from climate change to technological innovation. These investments are about more than academic success; they are about creating a generation of leaders and thinkers who will strengthen our economy, improve the quality of life on Guam, and inspire progress that benefits our island and the global community. When we support STEM education, we build a legacy of innovation and ensure that our people are ready to meet future demands. I encourage all eligible schools to apply and take advantage of this opportunity.”
ACT, which sponsors the scholarship, emphasizes the importance of stem readiness to prepare students for evolving career opportunities.
“ACT is proud to once again sponsor this program,” ACT CEO Janet Godwin said. “ACT data shows that the current state of STEM readiness is cause for serious concern. ACT is uniquely poised to meet this moment, and working alongside NLGA, we are committed to ensuring that all students leave high school prepared to enter a world of evolving postsecondary and work opportunities, including through access to a high-quality STEM education.”
All public, private, and tribal schools in the 50 states and five U.S. territories are invited to apply at nlga.awardsplatform.com. Funding will be awarded to schools to support STEM-related activities, programming, curriculum, equipment, and other expenses.
Applications will be reviewed in Spring 2025 with award winners announced at the NLGA Spring Business Meeting in April 2025.
