FEMA opens applications for Youth Preparedness Council
FEMA is now accepting applications for its National Youth Preparedness Council, offering students a chance to lead in disaster preparedness efforts across the country.
The council, formed in 2012, brings together teens who are passionate about community safety and emergency response. Members will complete local and national projects, provide input to FEMA, and help promote disaster preparedness in their communities.
Guam was last represented on the council in 2016, and local students now have the opportunity to bring their perspective back to the national conversation.
Each applicant must be a current 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th grade student, who have either:
- Participated in community activities;
- Served in a leadership role;
- Lived through a disaster and shared their experiences; and/or
- Participated in a preparedness activity or training related to emergency preparedness.
The deadline to apply is March 3.
