Police investigating Office of the Attorney General after meth found
Guam Police Department K9 officers swept the ITC building in Tamuning Wednesday afternoon.
“All work stations and areas and find out how the heck meth got into the AG’s office,” said Attorney General Doug Moylan.
Around 10 a.m., an unspecified amount of meth was spotted inside a conference room located on the 9th floor.
“That's a conference room that is accessible to the public. Interviews were done with many people and also supplies were brought through that office and into that room,” said Moylan.
Moylan, who was working out of their second office location in Hagatna, said he will get to the bottom of how the drugs got there.
“I need to find out who owned that meth, who brought it in, who was associated with it,” said Moylan. “When I have meth being found in my office. That is dangerous.”
The incident now has ag also looking into whether there may be a potential leak and corruption inside his agency.
“When I see meth in my organization I want to know if there is someone leaking documents and information out of my general crimes division and government corruption division. It puts us all at risk and threatens all of our safety,” added Moylan.
Word of the findings quickly circulated on social media.
“Bottom line is it’s a very secured area,” he said.
Attorney Peter Santos is a former prosecutor who has experience working in that office.
He shared concern over the response to the incident.
“Information I heard is that he tried to sweep it under the rug and try to tell everyone to stand down but the word got out,” said Santos.
But AG Moylan says otherwise.
“No. That wasn’t true. It was immediately brought to my attention. I immediately had it presumptively positive with a field test police officers use. We have the kit. Once it was confirmed positive, it had to be sent to the forensic lab for full investigation,” said Moylan.
No word if K9 officers made any additional findings.
Guam police said the case remains under investigation.
