A heated argument in local court today in the case against a pair indicted in a deadly shooting in Talo'fo'fo.
Co-defendants David Uncangco Jr. and Frances Cruz appeared before Judge John Terlaje in Superior Court today in connection to a separate theft case.
Defense called for Attorney Curtis Van de Veld to be disqualified as Special Assistant Attorney General in the case.
Defense Attorneys Peter Santos and Terence Timblin contend there is an ethical problem in the scheme to appoint him in the same jurisdiction that he also represents criminal defendants.
Attorney Van de Veld opposed the request arguing it is a ridiculous motion with smoke and mirrors, adding there is no violation with having him prosecute the defendants.
Judge Perez took the matter under advisement.
Parties are scheduled to appear back in court on March 7.
