All visitation and elective surgical procedures have been suspended at the Guam Memorial Hospital.
Hospital officials said this is a temporary safety precaution being taken due to an emergency water outage set for today at 9 p.m.
Officials confirmed they will be repairing a leaking water line.
To ensure safe and uninterrupted patient care is maintained, the hospital has taken necessary precautions to maintain a sufficient water supply for all units, departments, and floors.
In addition, the Guam Waterworks Authority will have a water tanker on-site to provide a continuous water source during the outage.
The GMH emergency room will go on “divert” status for the duration of the water outage.
GRMC and the US Naval hospital are aware of the hospital’s situation and the potential for emergency or trauma cases to be diverted to their facilities.
GMH will provide the public an update once visitation resumes and patients for elective surgeries will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
Other services, including labor and delivery, will remain open.
Additionally, outpatient clinics such as cardiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, and rehabilitation, will resume as soon as full water restoration is achieved.
GMH apologizes for the inconvenience.
