Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been making close to 1,200 arrests per day across the United States.
Now, federal immigration enforcement efforts have extended to Guam.
On Jan. 31, 2025, Homeland Security Investigations in Honolulu announced an ICE operation on Guam, highlighting the ongoing federal efforts to detain and deport individuals residing unlawfully in the U.S.
According to their official post on X, HSI, Enforcement and Removal Operations, and United States Marshals Service Deputy Marshals conducted a joint operation on Guam with a mission to “protect the community by apprehending immigrants with outstanding criminal warrants.”
This comes as part of a broader immigration enforcement initiative under President Donald Trump’s administration, which is prioritizing stricter border security and deportation policies.
Federal authorities have ramped up nationwide immigration enforcement with some detainees already being transferred to facilities like Guantanamo Bay.
In Guam, local authorities have long since collaborated with federal agencies to identify non-U.S. citizen inmates eligible for deportation.
Attorney General Doug Moylan’s office has been actively working with ICE on these efforts.
This latest ICE operation in Guam, however, underscores the federal government’s ongoing efforts to enforce immigration. As these policies unfold, residents are wondering if and when additional operations can be expected on the island.
