Within the four walls of our classrooms, dreams begin to take shape, and futures start to unfold. KUAM had the heartwarming honor of visiting the next generation of storytellers at Jose Rios Middle School during their annual career day.

It was back in August when the halls of Jose Rios Middle School were void of students—KUAM capturing the tireless work of the community who banded together to get the Home of the Voyagers back on board and smooth sailing.

“As long as we have the supplies and we have the manpower—we’re doing everything," they said.

That effort paying off—and five months later, kids at the Piti school are where they belong–in the classroom. “It’s so nice to see you guys in the classroom. There are so many people who care about you," we shared.

It’s here; these 7th graders are learning, thriving, and even thinking about their futures. From dreams of creating masterpieces, like Ja’rioin Rosario said, “I really love drawing and making art. I really want to be an artist–and I’m hoping to be a designer," to protecting our community, as Landon Mullikin explained, “I want to be a police officer".

And problem-solving, as Dominic Shimabukuro said, “I want to be a mechanic".

It was all things to explore during JRMS’ 17th Annual Career Day.

KUAM hopes to inspire the next generation of storytellers in our community.
