The alleged gang leader accused in a Maite shooting that sent a teenage girl to the hospital could be deported back to his home island.

Defendant Mesemwan Repwak appeared before Judge Vernon Perez in Superior Court today.

The prosecutor told the court parties are working on a deportation agreement with defense.

The case is still on track for trial later this month.

As reported, Repwak pleaded not guilty to charges filed against him in multiple criminal cases including attempted murder.

He had led authorities on a manhunt after a spree of violent gang activity targeting drivers on the road to include the Maite shooting.

Parties are back in court on Feb. 13.
