A fire in the Macheche area of Dededo has forced residents to temporarily evacuate their homes Tuesday night.

Firefighters with the Guam Fire Department are battling flames along Uhang Street.

It's there that units responded to a report of a structure fire around 5:46 p.m.

“Upon arrival units found a 40-foot containers and multiple vehicles fully engulfed,” said GFD spokesperson Lt. Nick Garrido. “This is an active fire and due to heavy smoke within the area.”

Garrido said those living in the area should temporarily evacuate, shut down all air conditioners and close all windows.
