Senator Therese Terlaje has introduced Bill No. 56-38 to transfer oversight of Podiatry from the Guam Board of Allied Health Examiners to the Guam Board of Medical Examiners.

The move aims to align podiatric regulation with national standards, ensuring proper oversight, standardized licensing, and continuing education for Guam’s podiatrists.

Currently, there are seven licensed podiatrists on island, with only one complaint filed in the past five years.

Senator Terlaje said the measure was developed in collaboration with healthcare boards to streamline regulation and improve patient care. If passed, the bill would enhance healthcare efficiency and provide clearer oversight for podiatric physicians practicing on Guam.
