The state funeral for former vice speaker Ted Nelson is set for next week Thursday.

Speaker Frank Blas Jr. called senators into session that morning to honor nelson's life inside the Guam Congress Building. 

Senator nelson passed away one week ago. 

He was 89 years old. 

Nelson served six terms in the Guam Legislature.

He was also a vice president of the Association of Pacific Island Legislatures and a respected educator, having served as a teacher, vice principal, and principal at George Washington High School.

The state funeral is scheduled for Thursday, February 27th at 10 am.
