Racist, un-American, and unconstitutional.

That’s what defense attorney Tom Fisher calls a deportation plea deal that prosecutors are working on with one of the men allegedly involved in violent gang activity.

Co-defendants Mesemwan Repwak and June Monu appeared before Judge Vernon Perez in superior court on today.

Prosecutors told the court they plan to meet with immigration authorities regarding Repwak’s potential deportation back to Chuuk.

But during the hearing, Fisher told the court he was withdrawing as defendant Monu’s attorney calling the deal illegal.

Judge Perez appointed Attorney Richelle Canto to represent Monu.

Meantime, AG Doug Moylan says the deportation deal is the appropriate way to resolve a case involving a repeat offender who is also a non-US citizen.

The pair are scheduled to appear back in court next week.

As reported, the pair led authorities on a manhunt after a spree of violent gang activity targeting drivers on the road to include a shooting in Maite that injured a teenage girl.
