GPA seeks authorization for rate adjustments to support Ukudu plant

Lower power rates were up for discussion before the Consolidated Commission on Utilities today.
The CCU is reviewing the Guam Power Authority’s proposed resolution authorizing them to petition the Guam Public Utilities Commission for a base rate adjustment.
GPA will also request the approval of the CCU to petition the PUC for another decrease in the fuel recovery charge, or LEAC, to be effective September 1.
The reduction in the fuel portion of customer bills will help offset the impact of the base rate increase.
For the average residential customer using 1,000 Kwh per month, the net result even after the increased base rate, is expected to be another estimated $44 monthly savings with the proposed fuel recovery charge adjustment.
GPA is pursuing these adjustments as part of its broader effort to lower power bills for customers while ensuring long-term system reliability and supporting the costs associated with the new, efficient Ukudu Power Plant.
