LeoPalace striving to maintain equitable workplace environment in response to discrimination settlement

Leopalace Guam Corporation, under its new management, says it’s focused on moving forward on improving the resort in Manenggon.
This after the resort entered into a consent decree with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
The settlement filed in the District Court of Guam now resolves complaints by former employees related to allegations of national origin discrimination and retaliation filed in 2017.
The company agreed to pay $1.4 million and provide equitable relief to settle the lawsuit.
General manager Schack Von Rumohr tells KUAM, “While this settlement serves as a pathway to resolution, it does not constitute an admission of liability by LGC. The company maintains that it did not violate the law.”
He adds, “LGC remains committed to safeguarding its legal rights while also striving to maintain an equitable workplace environment for its employees. By resolving these issues, LGC has sought to avoid the significant costs, uncertainties, and risks associated with prolonged litigation. With new management, this agreement allows LGC to move forward and focus on recovery efforts and improvements to the resort following the global pandemic and Typhoon Mawar.”
