Firefighters rush to blaze near Oceanview Middle School

Guam Fire Department units rushed to the scene of a fire near Oceanview Middle School and just behind the Hagat Police Precinct.

According to GFD Spokesperson Lt. Nick Garrido, firefighters responded to the reported grass fire at approximately 7 p.m.

Thick smoke and flames were visible in the area as crews work to contain the blaze. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.

A fire weather watch is in effect from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon for Guam. Critical fire weather conditions will remain through Sunday.

Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
