A new bill in the Guam Youth Congress aims to help students balance their education and civic duties.

Youth representative Austin G. Fortuno introduced the Student Juror Flexibility Act of 2025, which would allow full-time students aged 18 to 24 to request excusal from jury service during the school term.

Fortuno said the bill responds to students who struggle with missing classes and exams due to jury duty. Similar policies exist in states like Georgia, Texas, and Michigan.

The bill does not exempt students permanently but lets them defer service with proper documentation. It now awaits further review in the 35th Guam Youth Congress.
