The Social Security Administration announced today it will immediately begin issuing retroactive payments and higher monthly benefits to millions of beneficiaries.

This is for those whose benefits have been impacted by the windfall elimination provision and the government pension offset.

This change is a direct result of the Social Security Fairness Act of 2023, of which Guam Delegate James Moylan co-sponsored.

Under the new provisions, beneficiaries affected will no longer have these offsets applied to their benefits dating back to January 2024.

The SSA intends to expedite retroactive payments with most beneficiaries set to receive their one-time payment by the end of March.

These payments will be deposited directly into the bank accounts on record with social security.
