Tiyan High’s Air Force Junior ROTC receives “exceeds standards” inspection rating

Tiyan High School’s Air Force Junior ROTC unit has achieved the highest possible inspection rating, earning an “exceeds standards” grade during their formal HW AFJROTC inspection.
Led by Cadet Major Paul Gumataotao and Cadet Captain John Carino, the Tiyan High unit is the newest AFJROTC program on Guam and one of the newest in the Air Force. Since its launch in 2017, the program has produced multiple service academy selectees, ROTC scholarship recipients, and future military officers.
Superintendent Dr. Erik Swanson commended the hard work and discipline of the Tiyan cadets, expressing gratitude to their instructors, Colonel Frank Flores and Chief Master Sergeant Ron Taitague.
