Guam Economic Development Authority awards $340,000 in grants to support community projects

The Office of the Governor proudly announces that the Guam Economic Development Authority has awarded $340,955 in grants through the Qualifying Certificate Community Contributions Grant Program Series 7.
These funds will support village mayors’ offices, municipal planning councils, and Government of Guam agencies in implementing projects that enhance community development, safety, education, and public services throughout the island.
The following agencies have been awarded funding for their initiatives:
- Guam Fire Department ($25,000) to upgrade drone technology to improve emergency response capabilities.
- Department of Youth Affairs Southern Youth Resource Center ($25,000) for playground equipment and picnic tables for a southern community location.
- University of Guam Richard Flores Taitano Micronesian Area Research Center ($24,955) to support the “Frames of Leadership: The Guam Governor’s Oral History Project.”
- Guam Community College ($25,000) to enhance nursing education through the Associate of Science in Nursing program.
- Bureau of Women’s Affairs ($21,000) to fund doula services and educational outreach for maternal health.
- Guam Police Department ($10,000) to support a community awareness and outreach campaign.
Additionally, the mayor’s offices across Guam have received grants to fund various projects, including installing solar lighting, playground improvements, security enhancements, and cultural preservation initiatives.
Recipients are as follows:
- Sinajana Mayor’s Office ($20,000) for the installation of an ADA-compliant playground and safety fencing.
- Mongmong-Toto-Maite Municipal Planning Council ($20,000) for solar lighting installations in key community areas.
- Yigo Mayor’s Office ($20,000) for the establishment of an accessible garden for senior citizens.
- Asan-Maina Mayor’s Office ($20,000) for the installation of solar lighting and posts throughout the village.
Additional mayor’s offices received grants for community safety improvements, playground upgrades, and public infrastructure projects.
