Guam's military leaders stay silent amidst Trump’s Pentagon shake-ups

Guam’s military leaders have stayed silent following President Trump’s abrupt shake-up at the Pentagon.
Despite multiple inquiries, local base officials have offered no statements, instead directing questions to officials in Washington D.C.
The shake-up includes the dismissals of top military officials, among them General Charles Brown Jr., Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Admiral Lisa Franchetti, Chief of Naval Operations.
The Trump administration said these firings were necessary to realign military leadership with its policies, arguing that the military has strayed from its core mission as a combat force due to an increased focus on diversity.
They've also directed the Pentagon to remove all Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion content from official platforms by March 5.
But critics worry about instability within U.S. defense operations.
With Guam's strategic role in the Indo-Pacific, the lack of response from local leaders leaves questions about how these shifts could impact military operations, leadership transitions, and morale.
