Judge denies request to disqualify special prosecutor in Talo'fo'fo murder

A man and woman accused in the shooting death of Joshua Taitague in Talo'fo'fo' will have their day in court this week.
Trial for defendants David Quichocho Uncangco Jr. and Frances Cruz is set for March 5.
Judge Vernon Perez denied a defense request to have the Special Assistant Attorney General Curtis Van De Veld disqualified from the case.
Defense contends Van De Veld has a conflict as he has a dual role as defense counsel and prosecutor.
The court denied the request stating defense did not show any facts that a confidential or fiduciary relationship exists or has existed between the defendants and Van De Veld.
As KUAM reported, Taitague suffered a gunshot wound to his head.
He was left in the middle of the road and his car was stolen in Talo'fo'fo' earlier this month.
Investigators said the killing was drug-related.
