President Trump walked into the House Chamber with a raised fist, beginning his address with a bold declaration. 

“America is back,” said Trump. 

Describing his return to the oval office as a mandate.

“Tariffs are about making America rich again .... may be a little disturbance,” Trump added. 

The idea was met with loud protests from democrats.

Texas representative Al Green refused to sit down and was ultimately led out of the Capitol.

The start of a contentious two-plus hours.

Democratic lawmakers held signs, wearing pink jackets, and yellow and blue in support of Ukraine..

Many sat with recently fired federal employees as the President celebrated his initiative to slash the cost, size, and scope of the federal government.

Recognizing billionaire Elon Musk for his role in the widespread cuts that cost many their jobs.

“I've created the brand new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)... And it's run by Elon Musk who's here in the chamber,” said President Trump. 

He defends 25% tariffs taking effect today on imports from Canada and Mexico and doubling the 10% tariff on goods from China.

“Tariffs are about making America great again and it's happening and it will happen very fast... there may be a little disturbance,” he added. 

Despite significant drops in the markets over the last two-days amid concerns about a trade war and continuing inflation, and price hikes..

He's asking for additional funding from congress for border security and deportations.

The White House said President Trump will not tour the country promoting his agenda as many presidents do after the address and like he did during his first term.

Administrators said he can be more effective continuing to push for change from the Oval Office.

In response to the President's speech, the Republican Party of Guam stated in part, “Whether it has been border policy, investments into US manufacturing and directives to make federal agencies more efficient,the outlook in the coming year will be good for all Americans both in the U.S. mainland and here in the Western Pacific.” The Party added, “This is republican leadership - it is what Guam and all of America voted for. America is back!”
