Senators meet with Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority to discuss $500M disaster recovery funds

Vice Speaker Tony Ada and several senators met with Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority officials to discuss the $500 million dollar Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery.
During a recent meeting, Vice Speaker Ada asked if funding could support first-time homeowners and help businesses impacted by Typhoon Mawar. He also explored the possibility of using funds for infrastructure development on CHamoru Land Trust properties.
GHURA officials noted that 70% of the funds must benefit low- to moderate-income residents, with final allocations depending on grant guidelines.
Vice Speaker Ada expressed hope that most of the funding would directly benefit housing, infrastructure, and economic revitalization efforts.
